	Environmental Policy at PI Electronics AG
	PI Electronics develops measurement and process control systems designed to assist the operators and make monitoring and production tasks more reliable and safer. Improved understanding and mastering of any process contributes significantly to diminish the demand for raw materials and lowers the risks of accidents. We consider our work and products a contribution towards sustainable development and a more eco-friendly world.
	Today, many activities in the industry still require a lot of energy and could be relocated to the “digital space” in order to reduce their impact on the environment. For example, in the past maintenance or troubleshooting interventions often required the technician to travel but today maintenance tasks can often be handled remotely. This saves energy and at the same time reduces the response delay. Our goal is to provide solutions, products and services that consider the needs of man and minimize the impact for the environment. To achieve this goal, we strive to use energy-efficient components, which also must be re-usable, recyclable or that can be disposed of without harm for nature.
	Here are a few examples of projects directly linked to environmental challenges: Data acquisition and monitoring system for the decommissioned nuclear power plants at Tchernobyl Data acquisition and monitoring system for waste water being discharged into the Rhyne river originating in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry Measurement system for the optimisation of exhaust gases of gas turbines Measurement system for the quantification of the gamma-radioactivity of nuclear components Simulator of a large process control system with the goal of optimizing fuel consumption
	We are convinced that it is important to promote sustainable development, to take care of the ecological efficiency of products and to pay close attention to product life cycle management. Respect and consideration for the environment is therefore a key part of the culture in our company.
